Sub: Validity of sports achievement certificates of recognized National Sports Federations (NSFs) for recruitment and other establishment purposes in Indian Railways.
Ref: (i) Railway Board’s letter no. 2010/E(Sports)/4(1)/ 1/Policy dated 31.12.2010 . and clarifications/corrigenda issued thereto from time to time.
(ii) Railway Board’s letter No. 2025/E(Sports)/04/ l0(NSF) dated 22.08.2025 (RBE No. 86/2025).
Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MoYAS) has re-engineered a dedicated portal to streamline the process for recognition of National Sports Federations (NSFs). The updated list of recognized NSFs is published on the Ministry’s website from time to time.
2. Accordingly, with a view to avoid disputes and litigation and to ensure uniformity across all Zonal Railways (ZRs), Production and other Units (PUs), the Competent Authority, in supersession · of all earlier instructions issued in this regard, has decided as under:
(i) If a federation is recognized by MoYAS as an rsF for any recognized game discipline of Indian Railways, it shall be deemed recognized by Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) for the purpose of recruitment and other establishment matters pertaining to that game discipline in Indian Railways.
(ii) All future recruitments in Indian Railways under the sports quota shall be based solely on certificates issued by recognized NSFs for recognized sports achievements. No recruitment shall be made on the basis of certificates issued for National Championships conducted by any federation that was not recognized by MoYAS at the time of that championship.
(iii) Zonal Railways and PUs shall verify the recognition status of NSFs and the validity of sports certificates in terms of 2(ii) above, based on the information available on the MoYAS website at the time of recruitment, through the following link:

(iv) Past cases decided otherwise shall not be reopened.
2. In case of any doubt or ambiguity regarding the recognition status of a federation at any point of time, the matter may be referred to RSPB, which will obtain clarification from MoYAS before any further action is taken.
