प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने 1 जनवरी 2026 से लागू केंद्रीय सरकारी कर्मचारियों के लिए महंगाई भत्ता (DA) और पेंशनभोगियों के लिए महंगाई राहत (DR) की एक अतिरिक्त किस्त को करने की मंजूरी दे दी है। यह वृद्धि मौजूदा 58% की दर पर 2% की बढ़ोतरी है, जिससे यह बढ़कर 60% हो जाएगी। यह संशोधन कर्मचारियों और पेंशनभोगियों पर बढ़ती कीमतों और महंगाई के प्रभाव को कम करने के उद्देश्य से किया गया है।
इस वृद्धि का वित्तीय प्रभाव महत्वपूर्ण है, जिससे सरकारी खजाने पर अनुमानित वार्षिक भार ₹6,791.24 करोड़ पड़ेगा। इस निर्णय से देशभर में लगभग 50.46 लाख केंद्रीय सरकारी कर्मचारी और 68.27 लाख पेंशनभोगी लाभान्वित होंगे।
यह संशोधन 7वें केंद्रीय वेतन आयोग की अनुशंसित स्थापित सूत्र के अनुसार किया गया है, जिसके तहत जीवन-यापन की लागत में बदलाव के आधार पर समय-समय पर DA/DR में समायोजन किया जाता है। कुल मिलाकर, यह कदम महंगाई के दबाव के बीच कर्मचारियों और सेवानिवृत्त व्यक्तियों की क्रय शक्ति बनाए रखने और उन्हें वित्तीय राहत प्रदान करने के लिए सरकार के निरंतर प्रयास को दर्शाता है।
The Union Cabinet of India, chaired by Narendra Modi, has approved an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective from 1 January 2026. The increase is 2% over the existing rate of 58% of Basic Pay/Pension, raising it to 60%. This revision aims to offset the impact of rising prices and inflation on employees and pensioners.
The financial implication of this hike is significant, with an estimated annual burden of ₹6,791.24 crore on the government exchequer. The decision will benefit approximately 50.46 lakh Central Government employees and 68.27 lakh pensioners across the country.
The revision follows the established formula recommended by the 7th Central Pay Commission, which periodically adjusts DA/DR based on changes in the cost of living. Overall, the move reflects the government’s continued effort to provide financial relief and maintain the purchasing power of its workforce and retirees amid inflationary pressures.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 01.01.2026 representing an increase of 2% over the existing rate of 58% of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate against price rise.
The combined impact on the exchequer on account of increase in both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs.6791.24 crore per annum. This will benefit about 50.46 lakh Central Government employees and 68.27 lakh pensioners.
This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
