Notional Increment for pensionary benefits to those Railway employees who had retired on 30th: Railway Board order dated 16.07.2026
IMMEDIATE
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS
(RAILWAY BOARD)
No. PC-VI/2024/Misc./04
New Delhi, Dated: 16.07.2026
The General Managers (P)/ Principal Financial Advisors,
All Zonal Railways and Production Units
Sub: Grant of benefit of one notional increment (as due on 1st July) for the pensionary benefits to those employees who had retired on 30th of June before drawing the same.
Ref: Board’s letter No. PC-VI/2024/Misc./04 dated 20.02.2026.
Attention is invited to Board’s letter under reference (copy enclosed) on the above cited subject whereby it was advised to prepare a consolidated list of employees/pensioners eligible for grant of notional increment strictly in terms of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s orders & Board’s instructions on the issue of notional increment, and publish the same in the public domain so as to address the concerns and anxiety of the affected employees/pensioners.
2. It has, however, been observed that representations seeking benefit of notional increment still continue to be received in Board’s office from Railway employees whose cases appear to fall within the ambit of the Supreme Court’s judgements and the extant instructions issued by Board’s office in terms of DOP&T’s guidelines on notional increment.
3. In view of the above, all Zonal Railways and Production Units are once again requested to expeditiously examine and finalize all pending cases where the benefit of notional increment is applicable in terms of Hon’ble Supreme Court’s judgement & Board’s instructions. This exercise may be completed within a time bound manner so as to avoid recurrence of multiple representations and unnecessary litigations.
4. This issues with the approval of competent authority.
