Sub.:- Payment of service charges to Municipalities/Local Bodies in respect of Central Government properties.
Ref.:- Board’s letters No. F(X)I1/99/3/1 dated 09.03.2010 & 25.10.2021 (copies enclosed).
In terms of Board’s letters of even number dated 09.03.2010 & 25.10.2021, all Zonal Railways were informed about the judgment delivered by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 19.11.2009 (copy enclosed) and subsequent instructions by MoUD vide their OM No. N-11025/26/2003-UCD dated 15/17 12-2009 regarding payment of service charges to local bodies in respect of properties of the Central Government. It was conveyed that Divisions may be suitably advised to safeguard the interest of Railways within the parameters of Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directions.
2. In this regard, it is to inform that Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs OM No. N-11025/26/2003-LSG (Vol-H) dated 06.07.2026 has advised that all Ministries/Departments of Central Government may kindly note the directions/orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
3. In this regard, Railways may kindly see for timely execution of agreements with the concerned ULB’s in State/District and make regular payment of admissible service charges in accordance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directions.
