Expected Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief from Jan 2026 and 8th CPC Fitment Factor – All-India CPI-IW for the month of Aug, 2025 issued by Labour Bureau
The All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for August 2025 increased by 0.6 points to 147.1 (one hundred and forty-seven point one). The calculation for the next installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), which will be paid from January 2026, is now in its second stage. The final rate will be determined based on the CPI-IW data for the next four months. This January 2026 DA rate is also significant as it will play a key role in determining the minimum pay under the upcoming 8th Central Pay Commission. Once the new pay scales are implemented, the DA will be reset to zero from January 2026.
In related news, the DA/DR for July 2025 has been officially confirmed at 58%. This represents a 3% increase over the previous rate. The Cabinet has approved 3 percent hike in the existing rate of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief from 01.07.2025. Further the Department of Expenditure is expected to issue the official order imminently.
अगस्त 2025 के लिए ऑल-इंडिया कंज्यूमर प्राइस इंडेक्स फॉर इंडस्ट्रियल वर्कर्स (सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू) में 0.6 अंकों की वृद्धि हुई है और यह 147.1 (एक सौ सैंतालीस दशमलव एक) पर पहुँच गया है। जनवरी 2026 से देय महंगाई भत्ते (डीए) और महंगाई राहत (डीआर) की गणना अब अपने दूसरे चरण में है। इसकी अंतिम दर अगले चार महीनों के सीपीआई-आईडब्ल्यू आँकड़ों के आधार पर निर्धारित की जाएगी। यह जनवरी 2026 की डीए दर इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि आगामी 8वें केंद्रीय वेतन आयोग के तहत न्यूनतम वेतन निर्धारित करने में इसकी एक प्रमुख भूमिका होगी। एक बार नया वेतनमान लागू होने के बाद, जनवरी 2026 से डीए की दर शून्य पर reset कर दी जाएगी।
संबंधित खबरों में, जुलाई 2025 के लिए डीए/डीआर की दर 58% पर पुष्टि की जा चुकी है। मंत्रिमंडल ने 01.07.2025 से महंगाई भत्ते और महंगाई राहत की मौजूदा दर में 3 प्रतिशत की वृद्धि को मंजूरी दे दी है। इसके अलावा, व्यय विभाग द्वारा शीघ्र ही आधिकारिक आदेश जारी किए जाने की उम्मीद है।

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (2016=100) – August, 2025
1. Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour & Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index for the month of August, 2025 is being released in this press release.
2. The All-India CPI-IW for August, 2025 increased by 0.6 point and stood at 147.1 (one hundred forty-Seven point One).
3. Year-on-year inflation for the month of August, 2025 stood at 3.16% as compared to 2.44% in August, 2024.
