Cabinet Approves 3% Dearness Allowance Hike for Central Government Employees and Pensioners /
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective July 1, 2026.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the revised rates will increase DA and DR from the existing 60% to 63% of Basic Pay and Pension, respectively. The decision aims to provide relief against rising prices and help employees and pensioners manage inflation.
The increase will benefit approximately 48.54 lakh Central Government employees and 68.71 lakh pensioners across the country.
The government estimates that the combined annual financial impact of the DA and DR hike on the exchequer will be ₹10,016.10 crore.
The latest revision follows the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. The additional instalment will be applicable retrospectively from July 1, 2026.
