Subject: Proper selection of Category of pension while generating Pension Payment Order (PPO) Numbers – regarding
It has been observed that pension cases are being submitted to CPAO with incorrect selection of ‘Pension Category’ from the drop down list available at the time of generation of PPO Number. PAOs/AGs are selecting the class of pension in a generalized way e.g. Superannuation, Retiring Pension, Family Pension etc. whereas provisions are made for specific category of pension for each type of pensioner based on his/her department, nature of govt. servant viz OPS or NPS retiree and class of pension. Such incorrect classification of PPO numbers leads to confusion and discrepancies during the pension authorization process in CPAO.
In order to ensure uniformity and accuracy in database management, CPAO has made available a dropdown list of all pension categories based on specific requirement of each department. Accordingly, all Ministries/Departments are requested to ensure that pension cases are processed under the appropriate ‘pension category’ based on the department & type of pensioner at the time of generation of PPO No.
In view of above, all Pr.CCAs/CCAS/CAS/AGs and Administrators of UTs without legislature are requested to issue necessary instructions among all the concerned PAOs under their control for necessary compliance.
This issues with the approval of the Chief Controller (Pensions).
