Sub: Strict Compliance with Keyman Duties as per Paras 115 & 116 of IRPWM-2024.
Responsibilities and duties of a keyman are prescribed in para 115 and 116 of IRPWM-2024. As per Para 115, on double line, keyman will carry out one round of inspection in morning hours by UP line and then returning along DN line or vice-versa. This provision ensures that keyman always walks opposite to train movement but it has been brought to the notice of Railway Board that in few of the sections these provisions are not being followed.
2. It is instructed that provisions of para 115 should be followed strictly. Zonal Railways will conduct the review of keyman’s working and modify it, wherever needed.
3. Further, it is to be ensured that Track Maintainer Gr.-I only are posted as keyman. In case of exigencies, only senior and competent track maintainer may be deputed as keyman.
