OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Participation by Central Government employees in sporting events and tournaments of national/ international importance.

The undersigned is directed to refer to this Department’s O.M. No. 6/1/85-Estt(Pay-I) dated 16.07.1985 enumerating the incentives/facilities available to the Central Government employees on achieving excellence in sporting events of national/ international importance. As indicated therein, tournaments/ championships conducted by recognized National Sports Federation are treated as events of national importance.

2. Issues raised with regard to the applicability of provisions contained in the OM dated 16.07.1985 were clarified vide this Department’s OM No. 6/2/85-Estt.(Pay.I) dated 30.01.1989. An updated list of recognized National Sports Federations, as furnished by M/o Youth Affairs & Sports, was also circulated vide this Department’s OM No. 6/2/2004-Estt(Pay-I) dated 18.03.2008.

3. In continuation of the above, it is informed that M/o Youth Affairs & Sports, D/o Sports, vide their letter No. 8-23/2020-SP.III dated 29.07.2021 granted recognition to the Ju-Jitsu Association of India as National Sports Federation for promotion and development of the sport of Ju-Jitsu in the country with immediate effect with the condition that it shall comply with the provisions of National Sports Development Code of India, 2011, as modified from time to time, and other relevant guidelines issued in this regard.

4. In view of the above, name of the Ju-Jitsu Association of India is added at Serial No. 66 of the list of recognised Sports Federations circulated vide this Department’s OM dated 18.03.2008.
