Subject: Advisory on Phishing Emails and Cyber Vigilance.
It has been observed that a phishing email is currently being circulated, bearing varying subject lines (such as “Operational Deployment during the year”, “Control Room 29 BN”, “Digital Notice Board Solution”, etc.) and containing password protected attachments or similar variants. Such emails are suspected to be malicious in nature and may pose a risk to the security of official IT systems and data.
2. In this regard, it is advised to exercise utmost caution while handling emails received from unknown, suspicious, or unverified sources. The following instructions shall be strictly adhered to:
- Do not open, click, download, or execute any attachment or link contained in such suspicious emails.
- Do not reply to or forward the said emails to any other official or external entity.
- In case any such email is received, the same may be immediately reported to the Headquarters Office along with relevant details (sender’s email ID, subject line, date and time of receipt, attachment name and email Header in .txt or .eml format) for further necessary action.
- Any inadvertent interaction with such an email (opening of attachment/clicking of link) should be reported without delay to enable timely mitigation. In such instances it is advised to change the email passwords immediately.
3. You are requested to sensitize all officials under your administrative control about the above advisory and ensure strict compliance in the interest of safeguarding official IT systems.
