SALARY OF NURSES
312: Adv. Dean Kuriakose:
Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:-
(a) the details of average salary paid to nurses working in the private sector in the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) whether the Government proposes to regulate the salaries of nurses so as to ensure that a decent and respectable living wage is paid to the nurses working in the private sector and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(c) whether the Government proposes to bring in legislation to ensure job security and reasonable working hours for nurses working in the private sector; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (d) A Committee was constituted in February 2016, as per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court to look into the issues of pay and working conditions of the nurses working in private hospitals/institutes. The recommendations of the Committee were forwarded to all States/UTs in this regard and some States/UTs have issued the guidelines.
