Subject: Retention of railway accommodation – on transfer / posting to Zonal Railways.

Extant instructions issued by the Railway Board permit retention of quarters at previous place of posting in the following cases:

1. Quarters may be retained @ defined license fee on posting to SECR, WCR, ECoR, NER, ECR, SWR, RCF, MCF, CLW & RWP-Bela as permitted vide Railway Board letter No. E (G) 2024 RN 2-3 dated 02.05.2025 & 30.05.2025.
2. Quarters may be retained @ normal license fee in the following cases:

1. 1. On posting to NF Railway vide RB letter no. E (G) 2008 QR 1-9 Pt. dated 14.07.2025
   2. On posting to SCoR/ Zonal Headquarters vide RB letter no. E (G) 2025 QR 2-2 dated 08.08.2025
   3. On posting to New Divisions viz. Rayagada Division vide RB letter no. E (G) 2025 QR 2-2 dated 27.11.2025, Jammu Division vide RB letter no. E (G) 2025 RN 2-3 dated 08.04.2025
   4. On posting to USBRL Project vide RB letter no. E (G) 2001 QR 1-14 dated 25.07.2025

2. Extension for the retention of quarters as per para A and B above vide RB letters mentioned therein are processed every year or from time to time. In partial modification thereof, the full Board in the exercise of the powers vested in it to make reasonable relaxations in public interest for a class / group of employees in all or any of the provisions regarding house allotment / retention have decided that retention of quarters permitted vide RB’s letters under reference would continue till further advice from the Railway Board that the retention facility has been withdrawn / terminated.
