Sub: Clarification regarding ceiling of five incentive increment on sports account.
Ref: 1. NRSA’s letter No. 400-E/Sports/NRSA/24-25 dated 01.07.2025.
2. SWR’s letter no. SWR/P.566/Sports/Increments/Vol.II dt. 19.08.2025.
With reference to above referred letters seeking clarification on whether incentive increments over and above the ceiling of five increments may be granted to sportspersons/coaches, especially when increments have already been awarded at the time of appointment, the following is clarified:-
“Board’s letter no. E(Sports)/2003/Policy/INC/1 dated 09.07.2009 inter alia lays down the limit of maximum five increments to a Railway Servant in entire service career on sports account. These instructions are applicable prospectively.
However, if a sportsperson is eligible for grant of incentive increments based on sports achievements concluded prior to 09.07.2009 in terms of policy prevalent at that time, he/she may be granted due incentive increments without considering the limit of maximum 5 increments.”
