BSNL Employees Union opposes the BSNL decision to stop Training Allowance

Sub: – Discontinuation of Training Allowance for staff working in BSNL Training Centres as part of austerity measures — request for reconsideration – req.
Respected Sir,
It is a matter of deep concern that the Management has taken a decision to discontinue the training allowance for staff working in BSNL training centres. The order, issued on 04.08.2025, has been circulated without consultation with the Recognised Trade Unions.
While the Management has taken this step as part of austerity measures, the practical implication will be the weakening of BSNL’s training centres. As you are aware, many training centres have already been closed, or are being rented out to other departments for revenue generation. At present, only a limited number of training centres are functional, with comparatively fewer staff members engaged in training programmes.
With the implementation of this order, the affected employees will be deprived of the training allowance, which is most unjustified. At a time when technology is rapidly evolving, the role of training centres in imparting training and re-training to employees is crucial. Discontinuation of the training allowance will discourage skilled employees from opting for training centre assignments, thereby adversely impacting the efficiency of training activities in BSNL.
We, therefore, earnestly request you to kindly reconsider this decision and restore the training allowance to the staff working in BSNL training centres.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely
[Animesh Chandra Mitra]
