Subject: Retention of railway accommodation- on Technical Resignation

Extant instructions, re-iterated at sub-para (a), (b) and (c) below, would continue to apply for quarters retained on following grounds:

a) Superannuation, Voluntary Retirement, Compulsory Retirement, Retirement on Medical Invalidation Ground as per Railway Board RBE 99/2020 letter no. E(G) 2000 QR 1-23 dated 24.11.2020 viz. ‘4+4’ rule. i.e., four (4) months on normal rent + four (4) months on double the normal rent along-with governing instructions stipulated in the Railway Board’s letter mentioned.

b) Resignation, Dismissal, Removal as per extant instructions vide para-15 of Railway Board RBE 8/90 letter no E(G)85 QR 1/9 dated 15.01.1990 viz. one (1) month on normal rent along with governing instructions stipulated in the Railway Board’s letter mentioned.

c) Death and Missing employee as per Railway Board RBE 207/99 & 109/2002 letter nos E(G)98 QR1/11 dt 17.08.1999 and E(G)2001 QR1-17 dt 17.07.2002 and E(G) 2008 QR 1-14 (CGA) dated 16.02.2012.

2. In addition to the above and since extant instructions are silent on Technical Resignation ground, the full Board in the exercise of the powers vested in it to make reasonable relaxations in public interest for a class /group of employees in all or any of the provisions regarding house allotment /retention have decided that quarters may be retained on technical resignation ground for four (4) months @ continuing rent as on the date of technical resignation.

3. The instructions mentioned at para (a), (b), (c) and para 2 above, excludes earmarked accommodation, retention of which would continue to be governed in terms of extant instructions vide Railway Board’s letter nos. E(G) 2001 RN4-10 dated 17.09.2002, para 7 of letter no. E (G) 2006 QR 1-14 (A) dated 20.11.2006, letter no. 200 1/G(acc.)/5/17-Part IV dated 13.07.2001 & letter no. E(G)2022RN2-1 dated 05.04.2022 or as revised from time to time by the Board.

4. The policy instructions regarding retention of railway accommodation by staff of Railway Audit Department would continue to be governed in terms of Railway Board letter no E (G) 2005 QR 1-13 dated 06.07.2006 (RBE 88 / 2006) subject to modified provisions w.r.t. the same as contained in the instant policy
instructions.
